What “data center build” means

Data center build is comprehensive. The full scope includes:

Power infrastructure

Power is the most critical data center system:

  • Utility power feed — single source for Tier I/II; dual sources from independent grid feeders for Tier III/IV
  • Transformers — typically dual for Tier III+; high-voltage to data center distribution voltage

For Tier IV: 2N power across both legs of the design — every component duplicated; either leg can fail without affecting operations.

Cooling infrastructure

Cooling is the second-most-critical system. KSA’s hot climate makes cooling especially challenging:

  • CRAC / CRAH — Computer Room Air Conditioning (direct expansion) / Computer Room Air Handling (chilled water); typically 30-100 ton capacity per unit
  • Precision cooling vendors — Stulz, Schneider, Vertiv, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
  • Hot aisle / cold aisle containment — cold air to server intakes, hot exhaust contained for return to cooling
  • Free cooling — challenging in KSA due to climate; typically via plate heat exchangers when ambient drops below 18°C (rare in KSA)
  • Liquid cooling — for high-density racks (50kW+ per rack, common for NVIDIA H100-class GPU); direct-to-chip liquid loops or rear-door heat exchangers
