How delivery works for customers in Oman

EIE is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and works in Oman with no local base.

Remote engineering from Jeddah. Our Saudi engineering team builds the dial plan, sizes licensing, configures the platform and diagnoses faults over a maintenance connection — most of a project, before anyone books a flight.

Supply and shipment. Equipment is quoted and sourced in Saudi Arabia and can be shipped to Oman by road over the direct Saudi–Oman road, or by air where the programme calls for it, with GCC customs formalities handled by the customer’s freight forwarder. Systems are staged in Jeddah first where that shortens the site window. Equipment supply is confirmed at quotation and is subject to the vendor’s export and re-export rules for the destination, restricted-party and end-use screening, customs documentation, and carrier and route availability at the time of shipment.

Engineers on site for the phases that need hands. EIE engineers travel to Oman for the survey, installation, cutover, integration testing and handover, alongside the Omani contractors holding the containment, power and cabling scope.

Support after handover. Once the system is live the work becomes moves and changes, software currency, parts and fault handling — all of it, site attendance included, governed by each customer’s service agreement.

Consider a resort on the Salalah coast: it is a hospitality project before it is a telephony project. Rooms and villas sit across grounds rather than stacked in a tower, so cordless coverage for housekeeping matters as much as the room instrument, and the property system link has to hold when the property is full. The exceptions decide the design: room moves at capacity, split folios, and a check-out raised while housekeeping is still upstairs.

A bank would bring a numbering plan spanning headquarters and outlying sites, recording with a clear position on who may replay it, and continuity when a link drops. A ministry or university would be a numbering and resilience exercise across many buildings, and a port or industrial site at Sohar or Duqm would add outdoor telephones, gatehouse positions and paging.

Legacy PBX migration in Oman

Where Mitel replaces an existing platform rather than filling an empty building — a Meridian 1, Option 11C, CS1000 or Norstar system, for instance — the starting point is the system in service. Nortel’s enterprise voice business became part of Avaya, and Avaya has since ended sales and manufacturer support for the CS1000 line. A move to Mitel is a platform change to a different vendor; EIE plans it from an assessment of the installed release, licensing, handset and trunk compatibility, and lifecycle — not from any vendor lineage. The same assessment applies where the system being left is an Avaya one whose parts are getting harder to find.

What we deliver is a phased transfer, not a weekend swap. It opens with an audit of the live system: versions, numbering, the features people actually press, trunk arrangements and power — the unpleasant surprises are in the undocumented parts. Extension numbers stay as they are, attendant, queue and restriction behaviour is proved on the new platform first, and gateways carry both systems while departments transfer. The cutover window suits the operation, not the installer.
